...on Gomshall Flower shop ...I have been stitching on my Stoney Creek afghan getting it up to date with the magazine before I go away...I hope to complete the
second page . Not a lot happening this weekend ...hoping to get a sleep in and domestic stuff tomorrow and then I need to make my Dad's 81st birthday cake
for Sunday. So what have you got planned ?

I love your quilted hearts afgan.
What am I up to. Well after finishing my large piece, getting it cleaned up and to the framers I found myself bored in the evenings and early mornings with nothing in my hands. So yesterday I kitted up Marty Bell's Brenda's Porch and started stitching it this morning. My chart for Queen Guinevere Maying will arrive this week and the fabric next week. Then I can begin gridding and gathering flosses for it. Maybe in two weeks I can start stitching it. It's hot and terribly humid. I don't do well with that so I will not be working in the flower beds till the humidity clears up. Although I have to get out there this morning and fertilize them all. My day lilies are in full bloom now and the hibiscus soon will be. I have the large dinner plate mallows. The various little flowers around the front of the house are doing well. Working on a darling dress for my little granddaughter to wear in August when we go to another granddaughter's wedding in Atlanta. It is so much fun to sew for the little girls as I really only need length and waist measurements. She lives in Florida. All for now. Have a great week everyone. Fern |

I know you are a prolific quilter, but that IS counted cross stitch, isn't it? It's a little hard to tell from the photo, and you did call it an
"afgan," not a "quilt." In any case, it is lovely, and I can't imagine all the things you turn out every year. You and Marian, and
Fern! Amazing. I'm lucky if I turn out one CCS piece in one year, but then again, I don't work at it all that much.
As for what I'm working on at the moment, I decided to do a couple of companion pieces that match my Danish Christmas plates. I just finished one and sent it to the framers. I'm not particularly happy with it.....I did it on 16 count with 2 threads. The two that I will do will be on 14 with 3 threads. I started one of them last night, and I'm doing it on Charles Craft Aida which I picked up in Michaels. This was a new kind that I've never used before......it was called "Platinum" and was described as "the finest Pima cotton." I had used Charles Craft once before, and did not care for it very much, but I must say that this particular one stitches like a dream.....very, very smooth. I never believed that I could stitch that fast. The threads seem to just glide through it. Has anyone else tried it? Helen |
