Maybe everyone is out planting gardens. I just finished putting in all my summer plants. My alyssem which I usually grow really well is acting very sick. I'm afraid I'm going to have to replant it. But I don't know what it's problem is. It was very healthy when I bought it. Everything else is doing well. We finished one of our weekly Bible Studies last night for the summer so now I don't have to get the house in apple pie order every Monday (at least for the summer.) I did my Mother's Day Speech last Sat. at church and it went very well. Now it's keeping up on the women's challenge ( I'm trying to get into a regular habit of walking daily) and preparing for the four daughters when they come in July. They're coming to help us celebrate our 50th which was actually last December. Working on finding entertaining things they all like to do. Included in that will be the new International Quilt Museum (built just a mile from me) which houses over 4,000 quilts both old and contemporary. Also several lovely flower gardens within 60 miles of us. The guys will just have to find their own entertainment. Stitching has slowed down some. But I still try to get in two hours in early morning before I tackle the day's activities. What are you all doing this month? Have a great week. Fern

I'll guarentee you will enjoy it by the time it ends! I look forward to it every year. I can't help you with your plant, sorry to say, I don't have one, but you can call a nursery and ask them what might help. I have done that a few times. I had a beautiful Gardinia, that gave me ONE bloom, had tons of buds, and I did water it, and the darn thing just keeled right over! Hope you are not overdoing it now, it does get better in time. Especially, when we have "Bonuses" every 2 weeks! I really enjoy that! We've had rainey weather here, but it's needed, and doing my plants and my new chunk of lawn a world of good. My new rhododendrons have all bloomed so beautifully......we put in eight all in row along the south side of the house. I know rhododendrons are supposed to be on the north side, but they are under trees and are quite shaded. Four are dark lavender and four are white and we have alternated the colors. Facing them, along side the garage, also in a heavily shaded area, we put in several mountain laurels, a couple of bleeding hearts, and an "unknown." LOL. I picked it up at the nursery because it said "shade loving." So one day I'll be surprised. I wish I could have joined your walking team, but I think it was too late by the time I found out about it. Anyway, I've gone back to my treadmill......I had been riding a stationary bike down the cellar, but suddenly the "drag" wheel let go, and it's not giving me any resistance, so it's useless. I think I can manage walking better anyway. The bike was awfully strenous. I will soon be finished with Sunlit Stroll. I hope I will be able to post a picture of it. It's really pretty. Next I plan on another Thomas Kincaid......a snowy one called Stonehearth Hutch. It's 10 x 8, a good size for me to manage, and since I'll be doing it on 16 count aida, it'll be a little smaller than that. It seems I am able to finish projects better if they are smaller. I'd rather have them up on the walls than in a UFO pile. Happy spring and happy stitching. Helen

We would love to have you ! Fern and Fenny have joined us. You can still join, and you won't have to make up anything at all. You will just start from the day you register, and we will continue until July 5th... there are "bonuses" every 2 weeks, and you get to watch yoruself move along the virtual map! Yes, it is fun. Think about it, and see what you come up with. You will get a nice certificate when it is over, provided you finish the program. ! Now, on to the project at hand! What color of bleeding hearts did you plant my friend? They are sooo beautiful! I have the white, pink, red, and the fern-leaf pink too. I swear they multiply every year! they are all blooming now too. Oh, so delicate looking, too! the rest I don't recognize, I have tried the rhododendrons , but couldn't get them going. But, Foxglove are doing great! Also, the "Lilly-of-the-Valley" are just coming up, and they love the shade. I planted them around a huge Beechnut tree, along with bleeding hearts, and Hostas. Nice and pretty for a change.. No stitching for me now, gotta keep my pace with the steps!
