Hi Coral,
I always enjoy seeing pictures of the real thing. They always surprise me. I've seen pictures of "The Abbey" and also Miss Hathaway's Garden. They look quite different and yet the same. I've come to the conclusion that Marty tended to romanticize her paintings. Which is a good thing. I think that is what we all love about her paintings and the translated cross stitch. Always lots of flowers around the base of the buildings, not sidewalks nor cars. I think especially of Miss Hathaway's Garden. If you take a really good look at that you have t rees blooming (that bloom in spring) hollyhocks (that bloom in summer), etc. She has them all bloom at the same time and they make for truly beautiful pictures for the romantics among us.
