New to Needlepoint - Have question |

I've never done needlepoint, but I have cross stitched for years. My first question is how hard is it to learn needlepoint? And 2nd, can you do a cross
stitch piece from a needlepoint pattern?
I have just ordered a kit and would like to know if it would look nice if it was my first piece? Thanks!! |

Yes, you can do a needlepoint piece from a counted cross stitch chart. I have several charts that say, "for needlepoint or cross stitch." I can see
no difference technically speaking. I am assuming that you will just be doing the "tent" or "basketweave" stitch. With needlepoint
though, you can be very creative with various stitches. For instance, if you want to do a roof on a house in needlepoint, you can use a "brick"
stitch which will come out looking just like shingles. The whole idea of needlepoint is to do it in a variety of stitches to give the piece texture. But you
can also have just a "flat" look which is quite beautiful also. Hope this helps. Helen
